Simple test

REGARDING colonoscopies: People are so afraid of them. I've had it done, and it's nothing to be afraid of. You don't feel a thing. So don't be afraid to have this done. It's simple.

Daylight safety

I CAN understand the frustration with having to change our clocks. But it's nice to have daylight hours as your child is loading the bus and getting off the bus. Another good reason, especially for rural children, is that a big cat could be lurking in the woods. It's a safety issue, especially for children, and it's a small price to pay for safety.

Timeless cartoons

SHAME ON the person complaining about "Peanuts" and "Family Circus." These are timeless cartoons. On TV, Charlie Brown specials are still shown. Why? Because Americans love them. They're good when you're raising your children. I love "Peanuts" and "Family Circus." May they last forever, especially the high standards of these two cartoonists.

No politics

IN DR. Michael Seabaugh's Nov. 6 column, he couldn't resist bashing President Bush. He needs to stick to his day job.

Food mission

WHILE NOT a member of the Christ Church of the Heartland, I applaud the city council's decision to recognize that Angel Food Ministries is a ministry and that it doesn't need a special permit. I don't see this as a victory for anyone other than the people of this community who need such a ministry. I feel sorry for the few neighbors who were raising such a stink. They don't seem to understand that God's work needs to be done in every community, even theirs.

Church arguments

I'D LIKE to address the debate about Christ Church of the Heartland helping people with food one day a month. The two arguments against them seemed totally irrelevant. First, the argument about it being a retail business. Churches have always served the community with things like dinners and charging a nominal fee. There's been no problem with that. Second, the argument about noise and traffic being a problem. What about when churches have weddings and revival services? There are cars and traffic then. There's no complaint about that. Churches have always been in residential neighborhoods having special events that last for days. No complaints about that. The fire department in our neighborhood uses a siren that is much louder than the cars in a church parking lot. People need to aim their energies and arguments at the crucial needs of our city like the drunkards and the speeders, not a good organization like a church concerned to help people.
