I am a liberal, but I'm not concerned about Sarah Palin. I hope she runs for president. If she can't get the nomination of the GOP, I hope she runs as a third-party candidate. That would be great. Right, Republicans?
AT least 24 states and counting are already smoke-free. If this was such a huge issue to bars/restaurants losing revenue, would this be the case? Would entire countries like Ireland, Scotland, Italy, France, Australia and Germany have gone smoke-free indoors? Many would have you believe that your freedoms are being taken away, when in reality new research and education has brought to light the ignorance of our previous ways. It's time to breathe free, Cape Girardeau. Let's get with the program.
WE'RE showing them. Missouri ranks low among the healthiest states and dead last in reducing smoking rates.
SOMEONE recently asked me what I thought was the meaning of U.S. Sen. John McCain's absurd comparison of the health care reform bills to Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme. I replied that to me it meant that Senator McCain must be facing a challenge from the tea party right wing in his effort to retain his Senate seat.
I find it difficult to understand why the Scott City mayor is having a problem with the rock quarry. The road falls on the outskirts of town with little city traffic. I can remember a couple of years ago when the mayor was pushing ethanol and did not have an issue with the traffic and nuisances that came with that industry.
I do not smoke. I can't stand the smell. Besides, I'm too smart to smoke. That being said, I wish to comment on the whole notion of banning smoking in public places. A restaurant, or any other business, is not a public place. It is private property. It should not be up to you whether or not business owners allow patrons or employees to smoke on the premises. They own it. Not you. You want to ban smoking somewhere, ban it in your house or your business.
I work in the fast-food business. I cannot understand why people come through the drive-through lane using cell phones. That is so rude. They get mad when we interrupt their conversations. Please hang it up. I also am so mad at all the people who come through and don't say one word. They order their food and snatch it out of my hand. When I say thank you and have a great day, they look away and drive off. Give me a break. You can't say thank you to a person who has waited on you? Where did all the nice people go in Cape Girardeau? Why does everyone seem so mad at the world?
I would like to thank the person who found my cell phone in the Walmart parking lot. I was hoping someone honest would find it and turn it in. Thank you so much.
