We may have another Jean Michel Basquait in our midst. I would at least have the city appoint a panel of experts on the quality of graffiti art before having it summarily removed from Cape's downtown floodwall. Now, seriously. In the wildest stretch of your imagination could you ever have guessed that a Southeast Missourian editorial would state that President Obama made some correct statements, particularly on the issue of gun violence?...

Now, seriously. In the wildest stretch of your imagination could you ever have guessed that a Southeast Missourian editorial would state that President Obama made some correct statements, particularly on the issue of gun violence?
Carson on science
Why should anyone take Ben Carson seriously? He does not accept the scientifically proven theory of evolution. The last thing that this country needs is a president who hates science.
2 percenters
Read the article concerning ads being run attacking Missouri legislators who voted against the misnamed Right to Work law. The name of the group footing the bill for these attacks is Americans for Prosperity. That name in itself is a misnomer, it should be Americans for Prosperity for the Two-Percenters.

If goal is losing
Right-wing columnist Rich Lowry raised the question as to whether Republican presidential candidates should appear on Stephen Colbert. I would say, "Yes," if it is the goal of all Republican aspirants to lose 50 states.

Cape's parks
The parks in Cape Girardeau are beginning to look like carnival sites. The beauty and serenity of nature is being lost. The parks should be for the people not a hodge podge place crammed with sports and shelters. How many athletic areas and other intrusive structures do we need? The city wants a survey, but it's only online. How many people do not have computers and give their input?
Cardinals manager
I hope Major League Baseball votes Cardinals Coach Mike Matheny manager of the year. What he's done to navigate his team's many injuries, including the death of Oscar Tavares in the off-season, and earning the best record in baseball, was impressive. No matter what happens next, it's been a great year.
