DON'T we all feel safer now that our president has rammed through another deal that will affect us for years to come? Ronald Reagan used strength and determination to shut down the USSR. Now our president has reversed the gains we have made and is now moving us back toward Mutual Assured Destruction.
THE roundabout near the River Campus is cool, but the red curbs need to be painted white. They blend too well with the red brick at night, and twice now I have run over them.
OUR president and congress are spending money so fast that they must be trying to bankrupt our federal government. Several states may go broke in the next two years, and the feds are right behind them.
Child behavior
IN regards to Mr. Vandeven's commentary, people will not be treated as children if they don't act like children. Children will cry and throw tantrums when they are told they cannot do something that is inherently bad for them as determined by others with experience and wisdom.
21st-century America
IT'S funny that even in 21st-century America, gambling, abortion, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, lying and deceiving are no longer considered sinful activity. I don't even know why we celebrate Christmas. The angel told Joseph that he and Mary should name their son Jesus, "for he will save his people from their sin." These days there are no longer any sins in which Jesus has to save us.
I want to thank the police department for helping me out recently. People can talk about the police force all they want, but when you ask them for help, they're there.
Texting problem
IT seems like for the last couple of months, I've been reading about people running off the road. My next-door neighbor is a state trooper, and he says nine out of 10 accidents he goes to where people run off the road is because they were texting. We're killing ourselves because of texting and stupidity.
Smoke problem
DUE to the fact the residents of Cape Girardeau County voted out planning and zoning, an individual can build a shed, move into it and put in an outside wood stove. I wake up every morning with a headache. My garage and vehicle smell like smoke. Don't worry about secondhand smoke when there's something like this we deal with every day in the out-county.
