REGARDING a comment about the postal service and a person mailing a package for two-day delivery to Memphis which arrived six days later and another one to Columbia: They need to keep in mind that the last two weeks are the two busiest weeks of the year for the postal service, and in Cape Girardeau they are short handed working the mail. If they think service is bad, what do they think the service is going to be like if they move all operations to St. Louis? Do they think that is going to be any quicker? I don't think so.
REGARDING restaurant smoking, wake up, Cape Girardeau. You have to remember where you live. We are one of four towns that did not pass the smoking ordinance. Remember this when it comes time to vote for the mayor and city council.
I believe cellphones need to be off limits to all cable, electrical, gas company, electrical companies, MoDOT, plumbers and many others as long as they have an emergency number and a supervisor. How can they concentrate on their jobs if half of them are on their phones and one person is fixing the roads? Only five years ago, private calls were a reason to be written up. Enough is enough.
I work at the mail facility, the processing center. I don't work with the mail directly, but I've seen the amount of mail the last month that has gone through here -- over a million pieces of first class letters alone the last week or two. A lot of the mail got processed and everybody worked hard, but all the mail didn't get out. I can just imagine what the mail is going to look like if they try to move it all to St. Louis.
I'VE seen deer herds in the woods of at least 13 or 14, sometimes more than that. They don't just travel in groups of three or four. I just figured if you wanted to know a little bit more about the animal you should do a bit more research. Also, this is on the committee and how they said they were going to have trained professionals come in and take a class or something. Let's get real on that. We all know that it's going to be a bunch of red neck hillbillies running around shooting deer left and right. I guess whenever you find a pet of yours in your yard lying with an arrow in it, we can thank the city for that.
