I don't understand everyone's worries about toy safety. I use common sense with what my kid plays with, but I don't make a big deal out of this or that. I played with toys full of lead and mercury, and I am an intelligent, healthy human being. Too much worrying can cause negative effects to your health.
WHY doesn't the government take away the restrictions on who qualifies for Medicaid but leave the option of private insurance for those of us who choose to pay the premiums? That away I can continue to pay my premiums and get the health care I have worked for and not be forced onto a Medicaid-like program where I have to wait a year to see a dentist or be told I can't get a prescription or have to drive to St. Louis to see a specialist. I want to keep on paying my high premiums for health insurance. It helps the economy. So why take that away and have me add to the deficit? That doesn't make any sense.

IF the people who protect your life with their own lives don't deserve a cost of living raise, who does? Maybe the people who decide these things will find out someday when they need the assistance of a police officer or the fire department. Police and firemen deserve a raise before any other city officials. Get on the ball, Jackson. Your town is becoming a ticking time bomb. How many seasoned officers and firemen has Jackson lost recently?
WE have a strong need now for a homeless shelter in Cape Girardeau. In the future, the need will only be stronger. Please allow Larry Rice to have the federal building on Broadway.
