Shere Khan makes Cape proud

To the editor: I want to thank our Cape Girardeau community for supporting Shere Khan, the percussion ensemble from Central Middle School, on its recent trip to perform at the National American Orff-Schulwerk Association Conference in Omaha, Neb. The group's performance was outstanding. The children received the best standing ovation I have witnessed in 25 years of teaching. Comments from music teachers from all over the country were: "I had to keep reminding myself that these were only fifth- and sixth-graders," "Amazing!" and "You made Missouri proud." Congratulations, Shere Khan, on your national championship. Thank you for all of your hard work.
