To the editor:
The Cape Girardeau School Board would like to publicly thank the entire staff of the district for all of its hard work in preparing for the opening of the school year. All buildings got off to a great beginning, with enthusiasm running high among students, parents and staff.
We urge all motorists driving by our various school buildings to exercise their best caution, particularly during those times when students are entering or leaving the buildings.
We welcome Dr. David Scala as our new superintendent and look forward to working with him throughout the year. He brings many years' experience and much expertise to our district.
Finally, we invite all your readers to attend a reception welcoming Dr. Scala and his wife, Sue, to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Career and Technology Center on South Silver Springs Road.
STEVE TRAUTWEIN, President, Cape Girardeau School Board, Cape Girardeau
