It looks to be an exciting season of performances at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus.
The 2013-2014 schedule of performances was announced earlier this summer. The list includes a strong mix of student-based performances and touring series productions.
The first of six symphony series performances is scheduled for Sept. 22. "Symphony Sampler" will be in the Shuck Music Recital Hall.
There will be six productions in the theater and dance series: "Legally Blonde," Oct. 2 to 6; "Fall for Dance," Nov. 21 to 24; "Orpheus Descending," Dec. 4 to 8; "Peter Pan," Feb. 26 to March 2; "Spring Into Dance," April 10 to 13; and "Brighton Beach Memoirs," April 30 to May 4.
There will be six productions in the touring series: "New Dance Horizons II," Oct. 9; "Gypsy Romance," Oct. 24; "The Sound of Christmas Featuring Elisabeth von Trapp," Dec. 5; "Man of La Mancha," Feb. 5; "West Side Story," April 15; and "Giselle," April 25.
Special events also are scheduled. "Mr. Jack Daniels' Original Silver Cornet Band" will be Nov. 8. Three storytelling events are sprinkled throughout the year. The first will be Sept. 6 and includes Michael Reno Harrell and the Rev. Robert Jones. Bill Lepp, Kim Weitkamp and Andy Oflutt Irwin will perform Jan. 17. The final one is set for May 16 with Willy Claflin.
The River Campus has been a wonderful venue for many past performances. This year's schedule looks promising, and we hope you consider attending one or more performances.
