To the editor:
Missouri House Bill 491 has recently cleared committee and will soon be voted upon. The bill is for the creation of the Military and Monument Protection Act. This would put the fate of our state's monuments in the hands of a board appointed by the governor.
It is also important for Missourians who wish to see the return of Missouri's Confederate flags at both Higginsville and Pilot Knob, Mo. The flags are an important part of Missouri history and honor those men who answered Gov. Claiborne Fox Jackson's call to help defend Missouri from invasion in 1861. Please contact your state representative.
CLINT E. LACY, Chairman, Missouri League of Southern Voters, Marble Hill, Mo.
