I wish to express my appreciation to the Southeast Missourian and the Arrow for their efforts in bringing St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny to our community.
Mr. Matheny presented an engaging and well delivered speech that was simply outstanding. As a community member, and someone who works with college students, I found his message and focus on improving those things you have control over, as particularly relevant for our Southeast Missouri State University students.
I would also like to thank the Greek Life community for including this program as one of their minimum standards events for this fall.
I understand events like this require a great deal planning and work and wish to express my appreciation for everyone, in particular Saint Francis Medical Center, for helping provide this opportunity for both Southeast Missouri State University students and the Southeast Missouri region. One last special note of thanks to Gary and Wendy Rust, Jon Rust and Lucas Presson for your work and generosity in helping Matheny bring his message of education, discipline, goals, energy and servant leadership to our community.
BRUCE SKINNER, Cape Girardeau
