To the editor: I am writing in response to Bob Todd's Nov. 5 letter to the editor concerning the St. John's Bayou levee project. His figures are incorrect. He should obtain proper numbers before calculating. Saving people from drowning and from the ravages of flooding are not conservative or liberal issues. People help other people. It is what we do. Helping others is much more important than money can ever be...

I am writing in response to Bob Todd's Nov. 5 letter to the editor concerning the St. John's Bayou levee project. His figures are incorrect. He should obtain proper numbers before calculating.

Saving people from drowning and from the ravages of flooding are not conservative or liberal issues. People help other people. It is what we do. Helping others is much more important than money can ever be.

The levee project addresses life at its most basic need. Life, on life's terms, is more necessary than any of the other options. I am conservative, but I am certainly not like Todd, who obviously has an agenda that does not involve people.
