Dear Editor:

I am in my roving reporter mode! Last weekend we went to hear a highly acclaimed organ concert by the organist of the Boston Symphony given at Arizona State's New Organ recital hall which has a 2 year old organ (which is thought to be one of the 5 best in the country.) I was surprised and pleased to see that today's soloist was Gary Miller.

Often we don't recognize what wonderful flowers grown in our own back yard. I hope Cape Girardeau hasn't made this mistake! The newspaper should consider discussing his weekend activities with him. His choice of music was expertly chosen to exhibit the range of the instrument. The C Minor Fugue (Bach) was played with immense control, The Durufle' Epiphony Piece displayed a beautiful Trumpet Stop on the instrument, his rendering of the Alain-Petit Piece was done with an amazing range of sound coloration while keeping the gothic feel of this piece composed in the 20th century. And the Gade finale piece was a powerful, glorious, happy end to a wonderful concert. If there is a review in the Phoenix papers I'll send it; but on this Super Bowl Sunday, Gary Miller drew more and louder applause than did his famous predecessor of the previous week!

Sincerely,

Jack Crowe
