To the editor:
There was an article June 21 by Mark Bliss. I agree with the article, but it could have gone much farther. Thanks, Mark, for it did a bit of good. I and three others of my family were out there June 22, and so were the Conservation Department people. They were painting tables, spraying around the toilet area -- heaven only knows how they could stand the smell, replaced the concrete block on the handicapped ramp and began mowing.
This is a start. So many things can be done to make this park as it should be. This is what we paid for and are continuing to pay for. The toilet situation is a disgrace, and the smell is even worse. I drove through the camping area and saw only a tent. No wonder. Between the camping area and the lake was a jungle. Concrete from the old concession stand is still there, and about half an old fireplace flue is still standing. Even removing the old flue would help the scenery a bit.
This is a beautiful little lake, and we need it in this forgotten part of the state.
Keep up the good work, Mark. I am sure there are many who think this way too. I will add that we did have a good day fishing, catching seven catfish, two of them in the four-pound range.
