A few thoughts from a 75-year-old father, grandfather and great-grandfather concerning the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building.

The events of the past few days have made me realize how precious life is in spite of all the diversities we have to face today. One thought comes to mind: And a little child shall lead them. Maybe the celestial powers have chosen this as a tool to bring people closer together and have more compassion and consideration for their fellow man.

Maybe, when you ask why, you will come up with the idea that those children didn't die in vain and that they now reside in a safer place. I pray that this country might become a better place. I will always see the signs of beauty and new life each spring as God's dedication to those innocent children as I move on to the eternal sunset of my life.

The task of responsible people is challenging. It is almost impossible to change our lifestyles and tailor our lives to fit a new world of love, compassion, neighborliness and, above all, a program that mandates safety and a decent family life for our children. Families must go back to the old-fashioned idea that having children starts with conception, tender care and daily love. We need to guide our families toward a life of love, non-greed and willingness to give of one's self and to become a provider.

As long as we have responsible people in our country such as our law enforcement, rescue workers, doctors, nurses and millions of others who care, we haven't lost everything. God bless those who care and will bring this country back to make the world envious of the way we live.

Do not forget that the future is in the hands of the children.
