To the editor:
Have you noticed how many changes have been credited to El Nino? Severe weather variations of heavy rain in some places and drought in others are attributed to this warm-water phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean.
I've noticed also changes in people lately that must be due to El Nino. People have become more warm and friendly as the year draws to a close. They not only give gifts to their friends, but they have begun to show compassion to those they don't even know. They have been giving help to the aged and gifts of toys to those who have little, and they have been especially generous to those who have lost so much in house fires or other personal tragedies.
How could El Nino be responsible for such floods of loving care? Perhaps the answer is in the name. In Spanish, El Nino means infant or boy-child. Stay with us all year, El Nino. There is plenty of room for you, and we need your warm love in our hearts.
