It was a sad moment for me when I read in the Southeast Missourian of the passing of John Boardman. When one has the many interests, desires and skills in accomplishing as much as John Boardman did in making Cape Girardeau a better and more progressive place, it is hard to realize he is no longer with us.

His many acts of kindness and his friendliness will certainly live on, never to be forgotten. A joy to everyone he encountered, he always looked on the positive side and had a cordial greeting for everyone.

I met him by chance one day and shall never forget the warmth with which he spoke and the courtesy he showed. He was certainly the example of a perfect gentleman. I am sure many can speak of John Boardman in the same manner.
