Mental health disorders are alarmingly common. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly one in five adults in the U.S. lives with a mental illness. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent our friends, family members and colleagues. Personal stories of struggle and resilience highlight the pervasive impact of mental health issues, reminding us that no one is immune. Locally, the Community Counseling Center Foundation has encouraged the display of the color green to raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Community support systems, faith-based organizations and peer support groups also provide vital resources and a sense of belonging for those in need.
