A remarkable man observes a remarkable anniversary today. Rush Limbaugh is celebrating his 103rd birthday anniversary.
Although others in the area can boast of such an age, few have his amazing powers of retention. He clearly remembers his childhood years on a Bollinger County farm and his thirst for education around the turn of the century.
His memories chronicle a changing city and times. He is a modern-day link with our past.
A lawyer for 78 years, he still loves the law. Until last week, he could be found at the office most weekday afternoons. Last Tuesday, he was hospitalized for an arthritic condition. Law office staff members report this fine old gentleman remains in good spirits at Southeast Missouri Hospital. While visitors are restricted, he would no doubt appreciate a birthday card or note.
He represents a true role model for today's aspiring adolescents. Limbaugh realized his dream of becoming a lawyer even though as a boy he had few resources. He continues to serve the law and the community with wit and wisdom.
At 103, he remains an eloquent gentleman and a community treasure. Happy birthday, Mr. Limbaugh.
