Dalhousie Golf Club brought the region a first-class golf tournament last week, one that showcased some of the region's finest teen-aged golfers.
Nearly 150 people from 29 states and three foreign countries participated in the American Junior Golf Association tournament.
Seventeen-year-old Texan Ty Spinella, the boys champion, broke the competitive course record by shooting 5 under par. The girls champion, San Diegan Katie Sylvan, chipped in for a birdie on the final hole to win her title.
The players were effusive in their praise of Dalhousie's beauty and challenges and Cape Girardeau's welcome. More tournaments are being planned at Dalhousie, which has put Cape Girardeau on the national golfing map.
