Explorer post thanks officers for their support

To the editor:

Eight students, two police officers and one dispatcher from the Cape Girardeau Explorer Law Enforcement Post recently returned from the 2002 National Law Explorer Conference in Flagstaff, Ariz.

The seven-day conference was held at Northern Arizona University, where students participated as a team in competitive events such as bomb-threat response, crime-scene search, shoot-don't shoot and white-collar crime. Individual Explorers also competed in pistol competition, air-pistol competition and bike policing.

During the trip, the Explorers were able to see the Oklahoma City National Memorial, the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park, Flintstones Bedrock and a Navajo reservation.

The Explorers would like to thank the police department for making the trip possible. For the countless hours of preparation, meetings and contribution of their professional expertise, the post would like to commend Rachel Larson, Al Spencer and Adam Glueck for being our advisers.
