At 7:55 a.m. on this day in 1941, the U.S. was attacked by Japan bombers.
Today we salute those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor and throughout World War II.
Very few WWII veterans are still alive today. To those who remain with us, we thank you.
The sacrifice that World War II veterans made is far beyond what we could express in appreciation.
The events of Pearl Harbor day killed about the same number of people killed in the Sept. 11 attack.
It is a day etched in the United States' collective memory. In attacking the United States, Japan woke a giant. The attack on Pearl Harbor prompted President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to go before a joint session of Congress the next day and seek a declaration of war. The United States emerged as a leader in the efforts to defeat the powerful Nazi machine.
We remember and honor the bravery of the men who saved the world.
