More than 300 people celebrated last weekend as the Cape Girardeau County Conservation Nature Center celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The center has provided countless lessons about our region's natural habitat and how to connect with it. The facility's access is free and open to the public, and it is used to hold special events. It includes a 160-seat auditorium, three classrooms, hands-on exhibits, a research lab, aquariums and a wildlife viewing area.
It is the site for a wide variety of programs, and schools all across the region take field trips there to learn not just about nature, but our history as it relates to the land.
The facility is well run and managed. It's a great place for children and adults to visit.
If you haven't done so, we encourage you to check out the facility at Cape County Park North on U.S. 61 in Cape Girardeau.
Congratulations to our conservation workers who manage and operate the facility and all of those who contribute to its success.
Today is the day we celebrate our mothers.
We hope you take an opportunity today to let your Mom know how much she means to you. We also remember the mothers we have lost.
For all of the cleaned wounds, the full tummies, the stuffed stockings, the sleep lost, the gentle touches and the warm hugs, we say thank you to all mothers out there.
Happy Mother's Day.
