To the editor:
I have not listened to Rush Limbaugh in years. I tried in the past, but his pompous attitude and better-than-thou comments indicated an inflated ego. But I turned to his show Wednesday to give it a try anyway. Once again I experienced sadness and remorse that he is associated with Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri in any way whatsoever.
Limbaugh reported Washington state passed a proposition Tuesday allowing assisted suicide. Then he had the audacity to compare the substance of that vote to electing Barack Obama, our next president of the United States. He insinuated the election of Obama was analogous to assisted suicide for American government. What a buffoon. The definition of bigot is "a narrow-minded person who holds blindly and intolerantly to a particular opinion." What a bigot.
People like Limbaugh are responsible for degrading our opinion of American government. A man is elected to the highest office in our land, and in less than 24 hours the talk radio "elite" are busy criticizing and preparing for Armageddon. John McCain even stated in his concession speech, "Now is the time for everyone to pull together and work to support our new president." Limbaugh is doing his best to destroy respect for our government and leaders. He needs to be held accountable, as his comments are irresponsible and border on inciting treason.
