To the editor;

With the passing of SanDee Casey last week, the greater Cape Girardeau area has lost a wonderful advocate for children. She was a devoted employee of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and played an important administrative role in the organization of events, activities and fund raising for over 20 years. Ms. Casey has also been an instrumental member of the Otahki Girl Scout Council where she helped develop Camp Cherokee Ridge as a wonderful long-term camp facility for girls. She also helped train scores, if not hundreds, of adult leaders in both Boy and Girl Scouting over the years.

Although SanDee is no longer with us in body, she will continue to be with us in spirit because of the tremendous positive influence she has had on the lives of adults and youth in our area. I would encourage anyone who has been touched by her kindness to keep her family in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days. I would also encourage them to consider a memorial gift in her name to the Greater St. Louis Council of the Boy Scouts of America or the Otahki Council of Girl Scouts. Let's help keep her legacy alive and well in the lives of our youth.
