ReStore moving to larger location

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is moving, allowing it to nearly double in size.

ReStore, previously on North Middle Street in downtown Cape Girardeau, will relocate to 2365 Rust Ave. The store will remain closed until it reopens at its new location at noon May 5.

ReStore has been open for three years, and its business has continued to grow each year, said store manager Walt Wildman. A larger building was needed to allow for future growth and provide a more organized layout for shoppers. During its reopening weekend, the store will be open expanded hours, from noon to 5 p.m. May 5 and May 6 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7. There will be a grand opening celebration May 7 with hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.

Proceeds from ReStore support the construction of local Habitat for Humanity homes. To donate items to ReStore, people may call 334-9728 or bring them to the store.

Real estate agents Thomas M. Meyer, on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, and Tom Kelsey of Lorimont Place Ltd., on behalf of the Gary W. Rust Trust, negotiated the building lease.

* Construction company moves: Zoellner Construction Co. Inc. has opened an office and shop at 2004 Themis St. in Cape Girardeau. Zoellner Construction is a commercial general contractor performing work in Southeast Missouri since 1983. Previously it specialized in carpentry and concrete work. In recent years Zoellner developed an industrial division. A formal ribbon cutting will be conducted at a later date when improvements to the building and site are complete.

* Phoenicia returns: Emad Salamy recently returned to Cape Girardeau to reopen his Mediterranean restaurant Phoenicia. The restaurant has reopened at its previous location, 1000 N. Sprigg St., where it operated from 1992 to 2004. Phoenicia's menu features a variety of Mediterranean specialties including gyros, falafel, shish kebabs, Greek salads, grape leaves, baklava and more. Beer and wine are also available. Phoenicia is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

* Chaffee, Mo., nursing home gets award: Chaffee Nursing Center, owned and operated by Americare, recently received an award for resident service during the company's annual meeting in Branson. Chaffee Nursing Center was selected from Americare's 21 skilled nursing facilities to receive the award based on exemplary quality in the area of fiscal responsibility. Chaffee Nursing Center also entered the company's Honor Club for 2011.
