I wish I could have been there,
with those humble shepherds,
When the angels came to them,
to tell them of your glorious birth.
I wish I could have been there,
to see you in your straw filled bed.
And to kneel down beside you
and to touch your precious head.
Oh to see the miracles,
that you performed along the way,
To heal the sick and blind,
and rebuke the demons,
just by the words you say.
And to experience
the calming of the storms.
But I wouldn't be afraid, for I know
I was safe in your loving arms.
To go with you to Gethsemane,
and kneel with you to pray.
To cry with you,
and to feel your sorrowful pain
Oh I wish I could have helped
you carry that heavy cross.
I wish I could have wiped,
the blood from your face, with a cloth.
Oh Jesus, the pain you must have felt,
hanging on that old rugged cross.
But you had to pay the price for our sins,
and that's how much it cost.
Jesus, I'm so thankful that
you loved us so much,
that you obediently gave your life,
for sinners such as us.
And God, the Father,
Thank you for your grace & love,
so that we could be saved, through Jesus,
and live with you in heaven above.
