POETRY CORNER: CHANGES

Today I dropped you off at school

You're dressed in style, you sure are cool.

I smiled, you waved, we said good-bye

I headed home -- a heavy sigh.

My thoughts then drifted back some years.

Past images brought my heart to tears.

Where are the days of satin skirts

of sharp creased jeans and collared shirts?

Where are those pretty pin-a-fores?

Why don't they wear them anymore?

Where are the days of frilly dresses,

ponytails, and curly tresses?

Where are the days when shoes were shined

and tonic made boy's hair look fine?

Those days are gone and you my child have come up with a brand new style.

Yes, times have changed, there is no doubt ...

When clothes look best turned inside out!
