My family and I recently climbed Pikes Peak. The altitude on Pikes Peak is 14,110 feet above sea level (Ours is more like 600). Even the beginning of Barr Trail, which ascends the famous mountain, starts at 6,800 feet.

The air is much thinner in the mountains, and the higher we ascended on the 13-mile trail, the more difficult it became to breathe.

Our pace slowed as our breathing intensified with heaving chests. We were able to keep going, though, because we had trained and gotten in good physical condition, we had practiced on a smaller mountain two days before, we had been in the Colorado mountains several days getting used to the climate before attempting the climb to the top (and we also had our ride waiting at the top to take us back down off the mountain!). Thus we were able to make the climb.

Many of us expect to get to heaven. We get there only through putting our trust in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead to give us new life. But what kind of life will we have?

We will see God face to face and speak with Him personally. We will be perfect, living in love, peace, joy, in perfect harmony with God, one another, and all Creation. This sounds almost like a dream, doesn't it? Kind of like living or climbing in the thin air on Pikes Peak, we don't think we could do it, or at least we don't see how, at least not now.
