The fall asphalt overlay program is complete. Many streets were given a facelift. These improvements are made possible by the transportation sales tax that is collected each year. Thanks for your patience during these improvements.

Steve Wilson was recently sworn in as Jackson's city administrator. I look forward to working with Steve on many projects as Jackson continues its orderly growth.

Jackson is very pleased with its association with the Cape Girardeau Area Industrial Recruitment Association. Director Mitch Robinson is working hard to benefit our entire area. We feel the funds we put in this association are very well spent and the Jackson, Cape and Cape County governments are working together toward a common goal of more industry and more jobs for our area.

The year 1995 will be a busy year with many projects concerning water, electric service, sewer and streets being completed. It is an exciting time in Jackson. Our goal, as always, is orderly growth while at the same time the maintenance of our small town, friendly atmosphere.

Jackson was electrified the past several weeks with football talk everywhere you went. The Indians reached the state 4-A finals for the first time in many, many years. It was a special time when everyone seemed to come together to support our team. Congratulations to the coaches, players and their families for working hard as a team to achieve a common goal, the state finals.

As the year draws to a close, I also want to remind everyone that we at city hall welcome your input and your ideas to make Jackson a better place. The city council meets every Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall in Jackson. I invite anyone who is interested to attend as Jackson moves forward in a progressive fashion in 1995. My best wishes to everyone for a joyous holiday season.
