Upcoming events of the Vincentian Marian Youth

  • The next Vincentian Marian Youth Encounter with will begin at 6 p.m. March 9 at the Shrine Church in Perryville, Mo. The evening will start with a five-minute Faith Alive. Mass celebrated by the Rev. Milton Ryan will follow.
  • VMY is accepting registrations until March 21 for Mission Vincent No. 7, which will be held April 4 through 6. The weekend event is open to all high school teens. For more information, contact any church youth director or the VMY office at 573-547-3300.
  • VMY's summer service/retreat project is also accepting participants. The project in South Bend, Ind., will be June 21 through June 28 at the Marian High School in South Bend. For more information, contact the VMY office at 573-547-3300, or online at www.vmy.us.

Christian Women to meet Monday at Elks

Christian's Women's Club will meet for a "Prayer Connection" from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Elks Lodge at 639 Elks Lane in Cape Girardeau. The event is free and open to the public.

  • The Rev. Jeff Long, pastor at Centenary United Methodist church, will preach at 7 p.m. Sunday at Advance United Methodist Church. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
  • The Rev. Mike Mildren of First United Methodist Church of West Plains, Mo., will speak at the Lenten service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zion United Methodist church in Gordonville. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.
  • At the Christian Mission in Benton, Mo., the Rev. Dennis Lowe will bring the Lenten message beginning at noon Wednesday.
  • First Presbyterian Church will meet for dinner and meditation, "Pilate's Home," led by John Cook. The meal begins at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, and the meditation follows.

Angel Food Ministries adds new site in Jackson

Schedule of events this week at First Baptist

  • Pastor Mike Shupert delivers the third message in the Journey Together series titled "Forgive" at 10:45 worship Sunday.
  • Wednesday Kids' Club meets at 6:15 p.m. There will be Bible stories, crafts and games that are hoppin' good fun for children from kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. there will be a Missions Study as a part of the church's Week of Prayer for Home Missions.
  • There are still openings for Parents' Night Out on March 14, 6 to 9 p.m., for parents of children ages 6 months to sixth grade. Call the church at 335-6006 to register.
