Alliance Water Resources, the company that runs Cape Girardeau's water system, is the winner of a Missouri Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence and Pollution Prevention.
The award honors Alliance for its education and outreach efforts. The honor recognizes a Cameron, Mo., program that teaches middle school science students about water treatment and water conservation.
Alliance Water Resources has more than 200 employees and operates in 11 Missouri cities.
