Wal-Mart Stores Inc., achieved solid sales and income increases in the third quarter.
The Bentonville, Ark., chain, the world's largest retailer, reported sales of $45.7 billion for the quarter ending Oct. 31, up 13 percent from the same period a year ago.
Net income rose 5.8 percent to $1.37 billion.
For the first nine months of 2000, Wal-Mart has reported revenue of $134.77 billion, up 18 percent period from a year ago.
