Gas savings ideas

Yahoo Finance has released a report sharing consumer tips aimed at mitigating pain at the gas pump.

• Cashback apps, Some credit cards are offering 4% to 5% cashback on gas purchases.
• Warehouse clubs such as Sam's Club or Costco may offer fuel at discounted prices, depending on location.
• Gas station "loyalty" apps, such as Phillips 66, may offer as much as 10 cents off per gallon.
• Alter driving habits — e.g., decrease speed, avoid excessive braking and avoiding extra weight in the trunk.
• Keeping a vehicle in shape. U.S. Department of Energy reports fixing a faulty oxygen sensor may improve mileage up to 40%, Proper tire inflation may improve mileage up to 3%,
