How long have you been battling breast cancer? Since July 2013

What was the hardest part? Accepting the diagnosis. I have yearly mammograms and everything was clear in October (2012).

What advice would you give to other women? Be aware of any changes in your breasts and contact your physician immediately for follow-up.

Do not depend solely on yearly mammograms to detect breast cancer.

It is imperative that you have a good team of health care workers to guide you through this time (Womancare has been instrumental in coordinating appointments, resources, etc.).

Also, let your family be involved in your care and accept their help, as they are also affected by this diagnosis. My family has been wonderful, and I don't think I would be doing this well without them.

Most important of all -- take care of yourself during this time.
