• Arthritis Foundation self-help class: 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Saint Francis Health and Wellness Center conference room 2. This six-week program gives people with arthritis and their family members the knowledge and tools to take control of their condition. To register, call 331-5880 or 888-216-3293.

Thursday

n Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: 6:30 to 8 p.m. in meeting room 106 at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Learn about the causes, symptoms and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition that affects the wrist and hand. To register, call 332-1587.

Friday

• Flu shot: 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Illmo Senior Center in Scott City.

Saturday

• Share Walk: 10 a.m. in Cape County Park North. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Pavilion 4. The walk will start at 10 a.m. The $20 registration fee includes a long-sleeved "A Walk to Remember" T-shirt. The money raised will help fund the Hospital's Share program, a support group for families who have suffered from a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. • Feast of St. Francis: 3 p.m. in the Saint Francis Conference Center. All Saint Francis family members, patients, visitors and guests are invited to attend the annual Feast of St. Francis. For more information, call 573-331-5146.

Monday

• Breast-feeding class: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Saint Francis Medical Center. Class for expecting parents (in their eighth or ninth month) who plan to breast-feed. Topics are breast physiology, milk production, positioning, diet, pumping and storing breast milk. Call 877-231-2229 to register.
• Breast-feeding class: 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Southeast Missouri Hospital meeting room 107. This class will cover topics such as the benefits and techniques of breast-feeding, family involvement and support. Free. To register, call 332-1587.

Oct. 7

• Preparation for childbirth class: 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the Saint Francis Medical Center. Comprehensive guide to expected bodily changes, labor signs and stages, pain control techniques and basic infant care. Tips on relaxing, positioning and breathing will also be discussed. Refreshments will be provided. Bring the "Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenting Kit" provided by your physician's office. Call 877-231-2229 to register.
• Childbirth refresher class: 6 to 8 p.m. in Southeast Missouri Hospital meeting room 107. Class is a one-session review of labor, delivery, interventions and sibling rivalry issues. To register, call 332-1587.

Local chiropractor offers free spinal screenings

To mark national Spinal Health Month, which is observed in October, Becking Chiropractic will offer free health and wellness information, free spinal screenings and more to the following groups: Monday to Oct. 10, all children involved in sports; Oct. 13 to 17, all pregnant women; Oct. 20 to 24, emergency rescue, fire department and police officers; Oct. 27 to 31, teachers, including home-school moms.
