Saint Francis offers free prostate screenings

Saint Francis Medical Center will conduct free prostate screenings, including a digital rectal exam, PSA blood draw and total cholesterol and testosterone levels, for the first 450 men who meet one or more of the following criteria: between 50 and 74 years old; between 35 and 49 years old with a family history (father, brother, uncle) of prostate cancer; or black or Hispanic descent and 35 years or older. All participants must provide a list of their medications, their Social Security number, a daytime phone number and the name and address of their primary-care physician. The results will be available six to eight weeks after the screening. Screenings will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Saint Francis Registration Center. On-site registration ends at 11:30 a.m. To preregister or for more information, call 331-5853 and choose option 1.
