Why are natural gas prices so high?

To the editor:

Does anyone besides me wonder why, if the prices of oil and gasoline are dropping and the oil companies have made billion-dollar profits, the price of natural gas for heating our homes is still almost double in price? I don't know about you, but this sounds like price gouging to me. Since the oil companies know this is something we must have, they are going to hold us up pricewise. Why aren't our legislators doing something about this? Let's all contact them and find out.
