VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Any community can count among its riches the many volunteers who toil for worthwhile charitable causes. In the past week, two organizations have recognized the many volunteers who have made a special effort during the previous year.

The Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross gave awards to its volunteers during a special recognition luncheon attended by approximately 70 persons. Service pins were awarded to recognize the many hours of devoted service.

The local unit of the American Cancer Society also paid tribute to its many volunteers during its awards banquet. There were dozens of awards given to volunteers who raise money to fund cancer research.

Both organizations are top-notch representatives of the many volunteer groups that maintain the highest ideals of community service. Congratulations to all the volunteers who were honored.
