In most offices, the fax machine is a necessary piece of equipment, but it often becomes a burden, thanks to ever-increasing junk faxes. Recently Attorney General Jay Nixon said the No. 1 complaint from small businesses to his office is regarding these junk faxes. Nixon's office has filed 13 lawsuits against those responsible for sending out unsolicited fax advertisements.
While a trip to court is a step in the right direction, Nixon proposes another approach: Setting up a list of fax numbers similar to the state's "No Call" list for telephones. We support this idea. We encourage legislators to examine the matter and work toward the goal of eliminating unwanted, unsolicited faxes.
