Last week, Tracy was reading the classic tale "A Christmas Carol" with her class. She reflected on the message that this story sends to its reader: a story of generosity and kindness. In discussion, she realized how blessed she is to be a part of and witness to these gifts year after year through the Jaycees Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly. Once again, our community came through for the seniors and children of Cape Girardeau with gifts for the Christmas holiday.

Many area businesses and individuals came through for us in a big way. We would like to thank the River City Rodders, the "Old Goats," our "Wrapping for a Cause" team and Notre Dame Regional High School for going above and beyond with their substantial donations. We thank our area schools, particularly Cape Girardeau Central Middle School and Central Junior High School, for making our programs part of their holiday giving. We appreciate the support of Schnucks, Kidds, Subway, Jimmy John's, Kohlfield Distributing and Domino's Pizza, who supply our "Santas" and teams with refreshments on delivery night. Without the support of the Southeast Missourian, the Division of Health and Senior Services, and the Salvation Army, the Cape Jaycees could not take on such a sizable project. Finally we thank each and every one of you who gave your time, energy, gifts and monetary support -- it is only through the community we were able to bring joy to so many this Christmas season. It is impossible to call each by name and recognize all who take part in these wonderful efforts. Please accept our apology if we have missed you and know that you are appreciated.
