To all students

The flurry of graduation ceremonies is over for another year. By the end of this week, students will be setting off on summer adventures.

For some students, graduation from high school or college is a life-changing milestone. Many will be entering the full-time work force for the first time. They will be experiencing writing resumes, job applications, interviews and new-job orientation. It's an exciting time for most -- and one that deserves just as much encouragement and support as was given when students were still learning and being trained.

For a large number of high school graduates, this is the summer of preparation for college, which is often the first major separation from the ebb and flow of family life and familiar surroundings.

Other students will take advantage of summer school, either to catch up in some areas or to speed up the education process.

Summer jobs await other students, who are looking for ways to earn money while keeping themselves occupied or learning new skills.

Many students, though, see summer as a time to relax, enjoy their hobbies or spend time with friends.

To the graduating students, we add our heartiest congratulations and our hopes that you will always strive to do your best, no matter what your future holds.

To students who will be returning to classes next fall, we offer our support and a pledge to always seek to provide the best possible learning experiences possible.

To parents of students we say, "Keep up the good work," because parents who care and get involved are the best things that can happen to today's young people.
