Dear Editor:
A recent column by Peter Kinder ask the question how gay liberation plays in Peoria. The column concerned the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York in which Mayor David Dinkins marched with Irish homosexuals rather than lead the parade. For several miles along the parade route, he was routinely booed and showered with beer.
Having grown up in Peoria, and still a frequent visitor there, I assert the Peoria mayor would have been similarly received had he done the same.
Although the newspaper in Peoria has an unfortunate liberal bias, the citizenry is generally conservative, and as such, is more intelligent and intuitive. They (I) have little good to say about the liberal agenda and those who lay siege on traditional Christian values and European culture.
If the homosexuals march down Main Street in Peoria, they would find their "message" unwanted, undesired and under siege.
Thanks
Jim Obert
