Dear Editor:

Shall we have county planning and zoning or not is the issue. Cape County voters will decide in the coming election. It should be noted that the members of the County Planning Commission are without exception dedicated individuals who have served their respective communities in many ways.

They have attended many meetings with little pay or recognition and participated in many difficult decisions. None of the board members have a particular axe to grind so they can make decisions based on law and what is best for the county.

Through the years, as the continued growth of Cape County was noted the need for zoning was recognized. Zoning is a tool for guided growth that is in force for many areas. In fact there are at least five counties in Missouri with populations of 22,000 to 34,000, all smaller than Cape County, have zoning in force.
