To the Editor:
After many unanticipated delays, the Cape Central Municipal Pool is open and available for public use every day of the week. Public hours are 5-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, on Saturday and Sunday 1-5 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children, and $1.50 for senior citizens. The entire region is welcome during public swim hours.
We are offering coupon books of 25 admissions for 20 percent off regular admission. Adult fitness swims are 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9-11 a.m. on Saturday. Season passes are available for the fitness swims at a greatly reduced rated. Contact the pool at 335-4040 or the Parks and Recreation office at 335-5421 for these rates. Pool rental is $50 per hour.
We would like to see the pool and aquatic programs used by the public. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday (January through February) from 8-10 p.m., we will offer water sports for fitness and fun. For the regular admission rate, children and adults can play water volleyball, basketball, polo, inner tube polo and underwater hockey. If there is enough interest, we will form competitive leagues.
On Dec. 20, from 1-8 p.m., we will have a grand opening. Admission will be free to the public. Door prizes will be awarded and various water sports will be available for use. Other events will be held throughout the afternoon. Four sessions of swim lessons begin Jan. 18, from water babies to lifeguard training.
This is only a part of what we are going to offer in the coming months and we are excited with the prospects of what our pools can offer in recreation fun.
We are open now so come on out, but please be sure to attend the grand opening on Dec. 20.
It's 25 degrees this morning; but in the bubble, the water is 81 degrees and air temperature is 78 degrees, "a slice of paradise."
