Everyone could use some inspiration. On Friday there will be an opportunity to hear from a man who has faced tremendous challenges and succeeded.
Scott Rigsby is a double amputee. At the age of 18, he was riding in a pickup truck that was struck by a semi truck. He received third degree burns on his back, his right leg was detached with the left leg barely hanging on. He underwent 26 surgeries, and the left leg also was amputated.
Rigsby later became the first double amputee to finish the Hawaiian Ironman with prosthetics.
Faith is a key part of Rigsby's life, and he shares his inspirational story in his book "Unthinkable." His appearance in Cape Girardeau is part of Run for God, a program that combines faith and running. Participants build up their running endurance while also engaging in Bible study.
The Rigsby talk begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Lynwood Baptist Church. There is no admission charge, though an offering will support the Scott Rigsby Foundation.
Life is full of challenges. Scott Rigsby has faced significant pain and struggle, but his determination, faith and willingness to share his story are admirable. We hope you consider attending his talk.
