To the editor:

As I leave the comforting halls of Notre Dame Regional High School, I enter into a world that despises us. It seems as though I can't go anywhere without being ridiculed for being a student at Notre Dame. In these halls I see friendly, loving people I like to call my family. Unfortunately, my peers from other schools do not see this. I have heard Notre Dame students called preppy, stuck up and rich snobs. Sure, there may be those certain few to whom those hurtful words may pertain, but does that mean that the whole student body should be stereotyped as such?

I just attended a workshop with many surrounding schools. It was extremely hard to remain attentive when throughout the entire day we were constantly being laughed at and ridiculed, particularly for the way we dress. We have a strict dress code. I found this hurtful, knowing that I never degrade the surrounding schools. Our dress code is neat, clean and modest.

Please stop these horrible accusations, as they tear down one's self-esteem. We too have feelings. Notre Dame has a wonderful atmosphere, and I am proud to say that I am part of it.
