Don't bash farmers with your mouth full

DON'T CRITICIZE the farmer with your mouth full. Smithville Foods is buying out Murphy Family Farms. Smithville Foods Inc. is the nation's largest pork producer and processor. Farmers have to take the price offered for their hogs and cattle and grain and even though it costs more to raise them than we get for it. Smithville Foods can raise hogs at a loss, process them at their plants and then sell them at their price to the consumer. They are trying to push all of the small farmers out. Then they can control all the food prices. Then you will find out what your grocery bill will be. We live in a house that is over 100 years old. Our new truck is a 1968 model. We have a 1958 grain truck and a 1959 pickup truck. Our new tractor is 10 years old, and the oldest one we use is over 50 years old. We do not want money from the taxpayer. All we want is a fair price for crops. Any other business charges the price they set on their products. We have to take what is offered to us. Yes, we see people who live in town with $200,000 houses and drive around in $34,000 trucks that they don't need, but we will keep on trying to raise enough food for all of you. Don't criticize someone until you have walked in their shoes.

Watch out for Gordonville speed trap

WELL, LOOKS like Gordonville has it's speed trap back up. This is a warning to all commuters driving through Gordonville that they have chosen to bring back their Mickey Mouse speed trap and poor excuse for law enforcement. Slow down when you go through Gordonville. It looks like a town like Gordonville could find a better way to raise money than to prey upon unsuspecting commuters and farmers driving through their town.
