Human error

I AM concerned that so many people appear to be ready to change our system of justice. Although it is not perfect, it has served us well for more than two centuries. In the O.J. Simpson trial, the system did not fail. It allowed for a fair trial in accordance with the due process of law. That is what the system provides, but in this case the members of the jury obviously abandoned the system and made their judgment on some basis other than the evidence presented. It was the personnel who failed the system. And I doubt if we devise any system that is immune to personnel failures. Let's not tinker with our system to hastily.

Religious history

MOST AMERICANS agree there's a crisis in education in our country but what we don't know is how we arrived here and what we should do about it. How were the founding fathers educated? From whence came the wisdom to establish this nation, history's greatest expression of liberty? We find these answers by turning to original sources, sermons, letters, state constitutions, government proclamations, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. America is the only nation ever to have a government and Constitution based on the principles of liberty found in the Bible. For over 100 years, schools have not taught American Christian history. This has produced a national ignorance concerning the providential founding of this nation. We have been robbed of our heritage, not by accident but by design. The de-Christianization of America has been accomplished largely through the deliberate secularization of education.

Children in car

THIS IS to the irresponsible person who left the green station wagon in front of the supermarket with the car running in a no-parking zone and with four small children inside. About a 3-year-old was jumping up and down playing with the steering wheel and trying to shift gears. I waited approximately 10 minutes for this person to come out of the store. They never came. They don't know how close they came to me calling the Cape Girardeau Police Department getting them for neglect.

Payback plan

WHY COULDN'T young college graduates pay back their student loans by giving the government their time for nothing?

Turning to Democrats

TO ALL Republican Senate members: You act like the Terminator when it comes to the elderly, poor and sick, but you act like Peewee Herman when it comes to pork-barrel projects, corporate America and lobbyists. I will vote Democrat even though I'm a Republican because you're not playing fair. You got in because we wanted changed, not a knife in the back and robbed. I hope the Democrats will have more backbone when they're put back in. They will help the elderly and the sick and make welfare a short-term hope, not a long-term crutch, and stop illegal aliens from coming in and having children so they're U.S. citizens and getting welfare and disability while Americans get the shaft. We do need a change, and either the Democrats or Republicans are going to have to do it and do it right or we're going to have to something.
