AS I drive U.S. 61 to Jackson, I never notice the potholes. I would like to thank Cape Girardeau for a beautiful area to live in. Grass named for Lady Bird?

I WOULD like to second the view of the caller who applauded the apparent widespread appearance of Johnson grass in Jackson. I think they do a wonderful job of carrying on the beautification tradition begun by the person after whom the grass is named: Lady Bird Johnson.

University's standards are higher

I WILL tell that caller why Southeast Missouri State University enrollment is going down. It's because the standards are higher, and the university isn't letting in every Tom, Dick and Harry or Harriet. You have to actually have some kind of smarts to get into the university now.
